Who We Are
The Coalition of Health Professions in Auto Insurance (“the “Coalition”) is a voluntary, collaborative network of eight regulated health professional associations in Ontario. Our member Associations, in turn, represent over 40,000 regulated health professionals (RHPs) working in diverse health-care programs and settings across the Province including the auto insurance sector, where they assess and treat Ontarians injured in motor vehicle accidents.
Our Vision
An automobile insurance system that enables all Ontarians injured in motor vehicle accidents to receive timely, accessible, and high-quality care that supports optimal recovery and participation in society.
Our Mission
To unite regulated health professional associations in a collaborative forum that monitors, informs, and influences Ontario’s automobile insurance system through evidence, expertise, and consensus. Together, we advocate for policies, regulations, and system improvements that enhance access to assessment and treatment, strengthen claimant outcomes, and promote a fair and effective insurance framework.
Our History and Unique Contribution
Formed in 1990, the Coalition brings an important perspective — shared across multiple health disciplines — on the needs of claimants and consumers in a viable and sustainable auto insurance system in Ontario. Our members are thought leaders representing 40,000 regulated health professionals across all health care settings, programs and sectors that serve Ontarians.
Over more than three decades, the Coalition has actively participated, engaged and shaped meaningful developments and reforms through our work with the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (and its predecessor, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario) — and Ontario’s Ministries of Finance and Health.
Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that the work of our coalition takes place within the Traditional Lands and Territories of many Nations and Communities across (what is known to settler populations as) the province of Ontario. These Lands and Territories are covered by 46 treaties and other agreements. They also represent many unceded Traditional Lands and Territories.
Our eight-member organization is grateful for the privilege of working and living on these Traditional Lands and Territories and accept our responsibility to learn, reflect, and act in ways that meaningfully supports reconciliation, respects sovereignty, and upholds the rights and well‑being of Indigenous Peoples. We honour the Language, Knowledge, Ceremonies, Culture, Leadership, and the Resilience of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Communities who call these Lands home and their ongoing interconnected relationship with it. We are thankful to Indigenous Communities for their continued protections, stewardship, teachings, and contributions to the Land.
As a health‑care coalition, we reflect upon and recognize that First Peoples across Turtle Island continue to face inequities rooted in colonial systems—including within health care – and seek to address and alleviate any resulting harms.
